Debbie’s Drive Inn sits right in the heart of Newport, Tennessee, and it carries the kind of charm that only a long ,standing local spot can offer. From the moment I pulled in, it felt like stepping into a slice of classic Americana. This isn’t a polished, trendy restaurant it’s a place built on tradition, where comfort food and familiar faces shape the entire experience.
This drive-in has been serving the community for decades, with roots dating back to the late 1950s. That history shows in everything, from the simple setup to the way food is prepared fresh and served without fuss. Locals treat it like a staple, and visitors often hear about it as a must-stop when passing through Newport.
The menu focuses on classic American favorites, and it sticks to what works. Burgers are clearly the highlight, especially the Angus cheeseburger, which comes out juicy and packed with flavor. Hot dogs follow close behind, with options like chili dogs and slaw dogs that bring a rich, savory punch. There’s also a solid lineup of sandwiches, from barbecue to fried chicken, along with crispy sides that round out the meal.
One thing that stood out during my visit was how generous the portions are. The chili cheese fries, for example, come loaded and hearty, making them perfect for sharing ,or not. Milkshakes are another standout, thick and creamy with that old-school texture that’s hard to find in newer spots.
The vibe here leans heavily into that nostalgic drive in feel. You can pull up, order, and enjoy your meal in a relaxed outdoor setting or from your car, which adds to the charm. It’s casual, welcoming, and very community-driven. Families, regulars, and travelers all blend into the same easygoing atmosphere.
Service keeps things simple and friendly, with a pace that matches the relaxed environment. During busy times, there might be a bit of a wait, yet the food arrives hot and satisfying, which makes it worth it. The focus stays on consistency rather than speed, and that approach fits the identity of the place perfectly.
Debbie’s Drive Inn brings together history, comfort food, and a strong local following, creating a dining experience that feels both familiar and memorable without trying too hard.

Ordered a chili dog. Paid for it and left. When I got to where I was going I took a bite and there was no hot dog in it! How in the world do you forget to put a hot dog in the bun. What's more, how in the world do you put chili in a bun and not notice the hot dog is missing!!!! That was my first AND my last visit! If you're hungry, Sonic is just down the road from them and they know how to take a correct order. This place is a RIP OFF!!!! I mean seriously!

First time ever coming to this place after a long day of hiking and fun. We had to wait over 40 minutes on a cheeseburger, chili cheese fries, & a sweet tea. When we received our burger it was cold and then we had to wait even longer to receive our chili cheese fries. When I opened our fries they looked like someone had already been eating on them🤮 The waitresses also were not friendly. We will not be going back again. To be honest I don’t even think this place deserves a 1 star. In need of a lot improvements
